Time flies if you are having fun and when you're with usually the one you love. Since the years go by, perhaps your anniversaries commence to sneak up on you, with you and your loved one seemingly always finding yourself going out to dinner again. Or possibly the big day comes and goes, and you don't do anything at all because you are on a limited budget and can't think of something to achieve that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a trip to your wine country sounds perfect; but can it be worth refinancing your house and mortgage to finance this?)
Well, luckily, you can be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new approaches to celebrate your anniversary.
1. Just Be Together
Take your day off from work, turn fully off the cell phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your busy everyday lives. Celebrate your lifetime together because that's what your anniversary is all about.
2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
If that is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If this really is your 10th anniversary, provide a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Produce a game out of it, and see who can show up with creative number-themed gift.
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
For each anniversary year, there are traditional gifts that you can give. For instance, the gift for the initial year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your partner stationery you've customized, a book, a love letter, or other things associated with paper. It doesn't need to be expensive, just thoughtful. There's also a modern anniversary gift for every year. As an example, for the fourth anniversary, the current gift is appliances, which is actually a lot cheaper than the usual pricey little bit of technology. If you're thinking about what these gifts are, listed here is a handy list of traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.
4. Watch Your Wedding Video
I don't think I have ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I'm not sure where it is. But what's the idea of experiencing a video made if you are not going to view it? Your anniversary is a great opportunity to remember that special day, so pull out that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If you do not have one, perhaps you have a movie of a secondary you took or another memorable occasion. Or even, look during your wedding album or pictures that you took through your years together.
5. Get Crafty
If you should be feeling a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for every single other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, such as a photo album or scrapbook of the last year's events.
